From Consulting to AI Products

September 2026

Three years of MECE trees and PRDs taught the same skill twice — but product's feedback loop, shipping to millions instead of handing off a deck, is a faster and less forgiving teacher.

I spent three years in consulting before moving into product. The instinct to structure ambiguity, build the MECE tree, land the “so what” — none of that went away. It just found a new home in roadmaps and PRDs.

The biggest shift wasn’t the skills. It was the feedback loop. In consulting, you hand off a deck and move to the next engagement. In product, you ship something and watch what a few hundred million people actually do with it. That’s a much faster, much less forgiving teacher.

Now I’m at Haas, one step removed from both worlds, trying to figure out what I want to build next.
